Graduated from Kings College London in 1986 with a degree in Geology and Geography. He is the founder of Science Dome and has a great passion for sharing the wonder of science to children. He brings a wealth of experience to Science Dome and is an experienced rocks and fossils collector. Following 6 years of holidays in the Isle of Wight and also being local to the Jurassic Coast, Neil had a vision to show the wonder of Dinosaurs and rocks to schools, combining this with a show about the stars. Instead of just taking rocks into classrooms, Neil purchased his first Mobile Dome to bring to schools to show computerized film and pictures and combined this with his private collection of fossils. Neil has been amazed at the interest and take-up of the Science Dome service and now presents general science shows linked to Key Stages in subjects such as Light and Sound and Soils.
Neil is a committed Christian and loves to present the RS show using the Science Dome, sharing his awe at the wonder of God’s creation. Neil is based in Bournemouth.
Steve is a computer specialist with many years of systems development experience. He is also experienced with working with young people through church and youth clubs, and is a qualified adult education teacher. He has long been interested in the stars and planets, and believes that the latest computer-generated star scenes could capture the imagination of everyone who gets the chance to see them.
Steve loves walking, camping, and generally being outside under the skies!
Giuseppe graduated in Physics at Catania University. After a 10-year career in retail, Giuseppe decided to return to his first love, Astronomy. He completed a MSc in Astrophysics at Queen Mary University in London, and also worked as a freelancer for The Royal Observatory in Greenwich . He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
What he likes the most of his job is "the ability to open children’s horizon and reveal a world that they may never have
thought it might exist."
Giuseppe believes that not only is Science a lot of fun, but it is also a lot easier than most people think. He is eager to share this love of Science with others. As far as Astronomy is concerned, one of the areas that particularly interest Giuseppe is the history of Astronomy and of old instruments such as astrolabes. He feels these can be invaluable tools for learning about Astronomy even in our modern computer driven day and age.
Giuseppe is also interested in game programming: "Creating those realistic scenarios are fascinating". His other passions are, his lovely wife, reading books on Science-Fiction, Philosophy, History and Science. One of his biggest headaches is that he has too many books and does not want to get rid of any of them; he wonders if he is going to end up moving out of his own house to make more room for these books.
Sue is an Open University Natural Sciences graduate. Having always
worked in science based jobs she retrained as a secondary school science teacher and taught in Leeds for what would be the whole of her teaching career. Following a short illness she realised she needed to step back from classroom teaching and was fortunate to be able to take early retirement. "I had always envied the planetarium presenters who visited our school and so decided this was what I wanted to do next. A short phone discussion with Neil later and the rest, as they say, is history." And this is how she became part of the Science Dome Team.
What she loves the most about her job is "the excitement and enthusiasm of the children. Their sense of wonder and knowledge is amazing. I learn something new from them every show."
Among her hobbies and interests, Sue has a lifelong interest in Astronomy, for some years she was the president of her local astronomical society. Back on Earth the natural world has always intrigued and inspired her, something she hopes to pass on through her presentations.
Ady became passionate about astronomy since Patrick Moore replied to a letter he sent him in 1973! With a background in Science and many science qualifications, Ady loves meeting new people and sharing an amazing journey with them in the dome: "It’s the closest you will come to actually taking a journey in time and space in the TARDIS."
